WAHKON -- Vera Klous, 90, Wahkon, died Saturday, May 24, 2003, in Onamia.
She was born Aug. 26, 1912, in South Dakota to John and Hattie (Schaffer) Haas. She married Alex Klous on April 29, 1930, in Sanborn, S.D. They moved to Minnesota where they operated a dairy farm in Ogilvie. They later sold the farm in Ogilvie and moved to another farm near Isle. Her husband died Sept. 2, 1963. She sold the farm and moved to Wahkon where she worked at Miller's Nursing Home for 11 years.
Survivors include three daughters, Della Engblom, Mora, Joan Vivant, Wahkon, and Susanna Forestberg, Isle; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ethel Klein and Margaret Derhum.
Her husband; two sons, Thomas and Lawrence; eight sisters; two brothers; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild, died earlier.
Services were today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wahkon with Father Ray Steffes officiating. Burial was in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Onamia.
Arrangements were with Shelley Funeral Chapel in Onamia.
