Brothers involved in horseplay, one stabbed

A 14-year-old Pierz teenager was in fair condition Monday after accidentally being stabbed by his 20-year-old brother.

Ryan Fleck and his brother, Shaun Fleck, were "playing a joke" on each other Saturday at a residence in Lakin Township in Morrison County, near Hillman, when Shaun Fleck accidentally stabbed Ryan Fleck in the abdomen, said Morrison County Sheriff Michel Wetzel.

Wetzel described the stabbing as unintentional.

"It was horseplay involving game playing, a foolish prank," said Wetzel. "At one point the older brother made a stabbing motion at the younger brother and he didn't realize the knife, it was like a butterfly knife, was open and he stuck his brother without realizing it."

Ryan Fleck was transported to St. Cloud Hospital, where today he was reported in fair condition.

The stabbing was reported at 9:17 p.m. Saturday. Wetzel said both brothers and a third witness told deputies the stabbing was accidental. Wetzel said there would be no charges filed against Shaun Fleck.
