A chair for the Old Man and the Sea

Posted: Friday, May 25, 2001

Now Hemingway fans can share fish stories while perched on replicas of a mahogany chair from the author's fishing boat. Papa Hemingway used the chair while chasing down and fighting marlin off Cuba on board the Pilar, a 38-foot Wheeler Playmate painted "pirate black."

Thomasville's "Pilar Fighting Chair," which comes with an adjustable footrest, is being marketed as a bar stool. It will be available in late July at Thomasville Home Furnishings stores in Alexandria, Va., and Fairfax, Va.
