Jeanne Koeppl, a longtime teacher in the Brainerd School District, was honored at a retirement party recently. A second grade teacher, Ms. Koeppl had taught in Brainerd for 37 years at Lincoln and Edison Schools.
30 years ago (1974)
Over 50 area school children placed in the 1974 Kiwanis Bicycle Safety poster contest, with a total of 421 posters entered. Students in Kindergarten through sixth grade in the Brainerd School District competed.
40 years ago (1964)
The Brainerd Public Library will begin a move back into its old quarters next week. However, the old quarters will not be the same after a $30,000 remodeling job for more book space and a more modern library.
60 years ago (1944)
Lincoln first grade students honored their instructor, Miss Millie Germaine, at a pre-nuptial towel shower Wednesday afternoon. Madames Leo Turcotte, Rogers, Art Lyonais and Walt Vergin served luncheon to the group.
80 years ago (1924)
Grand Farewell Entertainment. Juniors to entertain the seniors at Ruttger's Resort, Bay Lake. There will be a short snappy program. Junior Melody makers will also give their finest selections.
100 years ago (1904)
The Elk Band gave one of its delightful concerts last evening in the N.P. Park. The streets were crowded with interesting listeners, all of whom seemed to enjoy the music very much.
