ARDEN HILLS (AP) -- A "serious racist threat" prompted Bethel College to tell its minority students, staff and faculty members that they didn't have to come to school Friday, the last day of final exams.
The college also added extra security officers for Saturday's graduation ceremonies, and for the next few days. Of the 4,000 students at Bethel, 320 are racial minorities.
"In our concern for their safety, we've given them the option for them not to be on campus today," said Bethel spokeswoman Amanda Wanke.
For students and staff members who do not feel safe on campus, special arrangements will be made.
