Thinking of cleaning up the garage, basement or yard but stuck on how to get rid of the stuff?
No problem. A Brainerd citywide cleanup is set 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 7 rain or shine to help residents with that task. Furniture, appliances, car batteries, leaves and brush will be accepted. Trikes and bikes also will be accepted in any condition. A maximum of five car tires will be accepted per household. And good used clothing will be collected for the Salvation Army.
Household hazardous material such as oil, paint, chemicals and fluorescent lights will not be accepted.
The drop-off site is the BISYS parking lot in northeast Brainerd, formerly Pamida, and the nearby Brainerd School District AEC building, formerly Super One, near the intersection of Highways 25 and 210.
Participants are requested to bring their "dump dough" -- mailed to residents by Crow Wing County -- to help defray costs. Freewill donations will be accepted.
The joint effort includes the city of Brainerd, Crow Wing County Solid Waste, the Northeast Brainerd Residents Association Inc., the Southeast Brainerd Residents Association, the North Brainerd Residents Association and the Downtown Restoration Group.
