Bridge work continues near Camp Ripley

CAMP RIPLEY -- Traffic on the Highway 115 bridge at Camp Ripley remains single lane, controlled by a portable traffic signal, until further notice, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation Baxter office.

The lane restriction is needed to allow the contractor to replace sections of the railroad rails on the bridge. The work is behind schedule, although the contractor is doing more work than originally planned, MnDOT officials said. The project was initially scheduled to take two weeks to complete.

Because of the large volume of traffic expected for the Memorial Day ceremony Sunday at Camp Ripley, state troopers will flag traffic across the bridge.

Motorists are urged to slow down, stay alert and drive with caution through the work zone.
