BAXTER - The intersection of Highway 210 and Elder Drive in Baxter was the site of another crash Friday afternoon, one week after an accident at the same intersection claimed the life of a Cushing man.
A station wagon and Chrysler Sebring collided just before noon Friday, injuring two females. Baxter Police Chief Jim Exsted said one woman was airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale and the other was taken by ambulance to St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd.
"It was a pretty serious accident," he said.
Exsted said in the past eight months there have been two fatal crashes at this intersection, which is just west of Highway 371. Exsted said the police department has been working with the Minnesota Department of Transportation on ways to address safety concerns at the intersection. Exsted said the Crow Wing County Passenger Coalition also plans to address the intersection at its June 8 meeting.
"I'm not sure what will come out of it, but I'm hopeful the engineers will come up with a solution," said Exsted.
"...This is just one of those things that you can't ignore."
