Warriors seeded first in baseball

The Brainerd Warriors baseball team has received the No. 1 seed in the North Subsection 8, Class 3A tournament.

Brainerd (19-1) will open at home 5 p.m. Friday against the No. 7 Detroit Lakes-No. 6 Moorhead winner. Detroit Lakes plays Thursday at Moorhead.

In other games Friday, No. 4 Thief River Falls will be at No. 3 Bemidji and No. 5 Alexandria at No. 2 Fergus Falls.

The second round is Monday at the high seeds. The third round May 28 and the final round May 31 will be at the site of the highest remaining seed.

Rager wins at Fargo

FARGO, N.D. -- Roger Rager of Pequot Lakes finished third in his Wissota Championship 360 Sprint Car heat race on his way to winning the feature Friday at Red River Valley Speedway.

Sye Anderson of Brainerd is fourth in season points, Rager is 14th and Dave Mass of Brainerd is 21st.

Hansen swims in Quebec

Brainerd YMCA aquatics coordinator Jane Hansen competed in the Canadian National Masters Swimming Championship at the Claude-Robillard Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

She finished ninth in the 100-yard individual medley, fourth in the 100 butterfly, 200 IM, 100 freestyle and 400 free. She also placed second in the 200 free and sixth in the 50 butterfly.

Hansen broke the Minnesota short course record in all events in her age 40-44 group.
