Wadena man has fatal heart attack while driving wedding party limo
LONG PRAIRIE (AP) - A wedding party in Todd County in central Minnesota got a scare when their limousine driver had a fatal heart attack while they were in the back.

Five sentenced for distributing crack cocaine in central Minnesota
The last of five defendants in central Minnesota, including two from Brainerd, were sentenced last week in federal court in connection with the distribution of crack cocaine, the U.S. Justice Department said Monday in a news release.

He was born in Garrison, Minn., and lived in Milwaukee before moving to Florida. He was a retired sheet metal worker from Milwaukee and a U.S. Army Air Forces veteran during WWII. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and an avid golfer and fisherman.

Can anyone do anything about the "garbage houses" on Hartley Lake Road? It seems the laws regarding multiple disabled autos, boats and junk stored in yards doesn't apply to everyone, not to mention storing garbage for a year then burning it for the neighbors to enjoy along with the rodent problems.

OTHER OPINION: Oil reserve
Legislation to halt deposits to the Strategic Petroleum Reserve may be the most popular initiative from Congress this year. But it's a bad economic bet, bad for national security and gives the American public the false impression that lawmakers are actually doing something about skyrocketing gasoline prices. President Bush should veto the bill - even though Congress passed legislation by huge margins Tuesday and could actually override his veto.

Until just a few years ago Canada was not considered by even the oil industry as having significant oil reserves. However as the price increased it became feasible to extract oil from tar sands. Canada is now considered to be second to only Saudi Arabia in oil reserves. In fact, they are our No. 1 supplier.
