Snyder wins at Sauk Centre

SAUK CENTRE -- Trent Snyder, Ironton, won his 16th career 30-lap late model feature at the I-94 Raceway Saturday night.

Snyder, the outside pole sitter, finished fourth in the fast dash on the 3/8ths-mile asphalt track in his 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo.

Cory Lease of Pierz finished second in his Great North Legends heat race on his way to sixth place in the feature.

In season points, Snyder is in a three-way tie for fourth place and Lease is eighth.

BIR announces sponsors

Brainerd International Raceway officials have announced that Viking Coca Cola and Grand Casino have signed on as track sponsors.

Brainerd-based Viking Coca Cola renewed its sponsorship for another three years. Grand Casino signed a one-year commitment.

As part of their sponsorships, the pair will co-sponsor the NHRA Lucas Oils Drag Racing Series West Central Divisional June 6-8 at BIR.

Herron, Rubin win bouts

Blake Herron of Brainerd defeated Luis Arias and Nate Rubin defeated Samuel Arias by TKO in the second round at the 4-state tournament in Charlestown, Iowa, Saturday.

Herron finished with a 35-6 record while Rubin finished with a 43-9 mark.

Warriors JV baseball splits

Brainerd's junior varsity baseball team split two games Saturday, rallying past St. Cloud Apollo 15-10 and then losing to St. Cloud Tech 6-5.

Against Apollo, Nate Maaske was 2-for-4 with four RBI. In the loss to Tech, Mike Huesmann went 2-for-3 with three RBI.
