MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- A benefit concert for the Jade Foundation raised about $80,000 to help disadvantaged children, Terry Ventura estimated.
Twin Cities pianist Lorie Line performed at the concert Friday night at the State Theater to raise money for the foundation established by Gov. Jesse Ventura and the First Lady.
Ventura created the foundation last year, using half of the appearance fee he was paid when he refereed a World Wrestling Federation event at Target Center. It is named after the Venturas' daughter, Jade, who has mental disabilities resulting from seizures suffered as an infant.
Tickets for the benefit ranged from $50 to $250. Tickets at the higher levels included a preconcert reception with the Venturas and, at the highest level, a post-concert backstage pass.
