DILWORTH (AP) -- Occupants of about 50 homes were evacuated for about an hour after two train tanker cars derailed and authorities became worried that a tanker carrying coal tar distillate might leak.
However, the flammable liquid -- which can be harmful to breathe -- did not leak out of the tanker, said Police Chief Dave Miller.
The accident happened shortly after 9 p.m. Friday when the tanker with coal tar distillate and an empty tanker were being pushed backward and collided with a stationary rail car on a switching track.
The tankers jumped the tracks and tipped on their sides.
