S-M, Forsberg win Mid-Minn. titles

MENAHGA - Staples-Motley won the team title and the Cardinals' Nick Forsberg captured medalist honors with a 69 in the Mid-Minnesota Conference championship meet Monday at Blueberry Pines.

The Cardinals' Zach Israelson was second, Jonas Dale of Pequot Lakes third at 71, S-M's Michael Strain fourth with a 76 and Pine River-Backus' Ben Kline was fifth at 77.

S-M captured the season conference championship with 29.5 points followed by Pequot Lakes and Crosby-Ironton.

All-conference honors went to the top 10 individuals, plus ties, with 85 being the highest score to qualify for all-conference.

Pillager boys' eighth

ELBOW LAKE - Taylor Hanson shot 85 and Michael Pettit fired a 93 for the eighth-place Pillager Huskies in Monday's Quad County Conference meet at Tipsinah Mounds.

Brady Christenson and Chase Martin both carded 94s for Pillager's 367.
