PEQUOT LAKES - Matt Bartella was 2-for-4 with two home runs and six RBIs to lead the Pequot Lakes Patriots to a 12-2 game one victory over the Staples-Motley Cardinals in Mid-State Conference baseball Friday.

The Patriots completed the sweep with a 3-1 game two win.

Casey Christianson was 2-4 with two runs scored in game one and Colton Maher picked up the complete-game victory.

Jordan Riewer was 2-3 for the Cardinals.

Bartella was 2-3 with a run scored in game two and Tyler Wittwer added an RBI triple for Pequot.

Trevor Ness was 2-4 and Ryan Halverson had a double for S-M.

CROSBY - Brad Insley finished 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and an RBI as the Aitkin Gobblers defeated the Crosby-Ironton Rangers 8-3 Friday in non-conference baseball.

Dan Landrus added a double and two RBIs. Clint Considine doubled and tallied an RBI.

Jared Mattson tripled for Crosby-Ironton and Jason Hite was 1-3 with an RBI.

The Pirates won game two 11-1 as Cottrell added a home run and three RBIs and Weber tallied three RBIs. Ethan Kern stuck out five for the complete-game victory.

PIERZ - Cory Egan blasted two 3-run home runs, in the third and fourth inning, as the Pierz Pioneers held off Holdingford 11-9 in game one of a Central Minnesota Conference doubleheader Friday.

Egan finished the game with seven RBIs. Dustin Monson went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in the sixth inning. Kyle Welle hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning.

Scott Janson finished 2-4 with a double and two RBIs in a 9-3 game two Pierz win. Egan, Welle and Matt Woitalla each collected two hits and one RBI for Pierz.

NORTHOME - Nick Griffith went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Nathan Waslaski was 2-4 with a double and three RBIs as Pine River-Backus dominated Northome-Kelliher 22-4 in game one of a Northland doubleheader Thursday.

Ryan Snavely struck out five and didn't allow an earned run in the win. Snavely went 2-4 with a RBI at the plate and Jesse Hernandez went 3-5 with two RBIs.

Griffith tossed a complete game, striking out five in a 11-1 PR-B game two win. Snavely added two hits, including a RBI triple. Griffith collected a RBI double and Hernandez finished 2-3 with a double and one RBI.
