Posted: Saturday, May 19, 2007

Age: 44.

Address: 18211 Sleep Trail, Ironton.

Occupation: Sales.

Education: Crosby-Ironton graduate, Alexandria Tech College/construction management.

Family: Three children.

Why are you running for this office? "A member of the planning commission for the past five years, I have witnessed the rapid growth to our county. Being involved in the recent revisions to the comprehensive plan and county ordinances, I am hopeful to utilize this knowledge in a manner that can continue to move District 5 in a positive direction. I will identify funding that would allow the efforts of a future land use map to be completed. My goal to assure that all departments within the county have the tools in place to assure that every individual who visits our county is helpful and friendly."

Out of a field of 12 candidates, what sets you apart from the other candidates? "Being a board member of the county's planning and zoning board for the past five years, I have had the pleasure to work with past and present commissioners as well as other departments within the county. Departments such as soil and water and the board of adjustment, all which are important in keeping our county and district a place in which people and businesses want to be. I have also participated as District 5's representative on the canvassing board. These experiences will allow me to be a commissioner that can step up and serve the people of District 5 immediately."

What do you think is the most important issue facing Crow Wing County? "With an estimated 25 percent growth increase predicted in Crow Wing County over the next 15 years it's imperative that District 5 has the leadership to ensure that the proper infrastructure is in place to support this growth. I feel that this can be achieved by properly developing our land in a manner that will not impact our lakes and rivers negatively. I will work to assure that we have the proper enforcement in place to assure our road systems are safe and able to support growth. It's also important that we live by our ordinances in a proactive manner."
