Dance to be held

BACKUS - The Frankie Lamb Band, playing classic country western and pop, old time and swing, will appear from 2-6 p.m. May 27 at the Backus American Legion.

The dance is a part of the annual Backus Old-timers Weekend reunion activities.

Relay for Life team captain meeting

There will be a team captain meeting for Relay for Life at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Brained Public Library.

Anyone interested in the event or having a team of their own is welcome to attend.

The Relay for Life will be held July 27 at Don Adamson Field in Brainerd.

Bridge social group

Those interested in playing bridge are invited to join a social group of men and women for an annual summer bridgerama play-off. They play four times plus a special final enjoying lunch at Grand View Lodge, competing for a grand prize. For more information, call Denise Park at 963-7711.

Senior dances planned

Senior dances will be from 1-4 p.m. Tuesday at Motley Ten-Hi with Jerry's Dance Band; from 2-5 p.m. Wednesday at the Brainerd Eagles Club with music by Ron, Henry, Carl and Boyd (free admission); from 7-10 p.m. Thursday at T.Maxwell's in Staples with Jerry's Dance Band; and 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the Backus American Legion with music by Frankly Country.

Baxter Lions presented awards

At the Baxter Lions April meeting, District 5M9 Gov. Carroll Kukoski presented Baxter Lions president Roy Rauen and Dale Eberhardt with Melvin Jones Fellowship awards. Eunice Watland was presented with a Helen Keller award and Sandy Johnson was presented with an appreciation award. These are the highest awards in Lionism.

Aurora Lodge No. 100

Aurora Lodge No. 100 will have a "Fill the Lodge Night" with dinner at 6 p.m. Tuesday. There will be a presentation of pins for several members signifying the length of time being a Master Mason. Wives are encouraged to attend. A short meeting will follow.

BNSF Vets

BNSF Vets will met at 9 a.m. Tuesday for a breakfast meeting at Northwind Grille.

Woodland Wildflower Red Hat group

Lois luncheon planned

A Lois luncheon is planned at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Clear Lake home of Lois Johnson which is located one-half mile east of the Glen Store. Lunch will be provided. Outdoor games and pontoon rides will be available. New members are welcome. The only requirement is that your name is Lois. Purple Heart members to meet

Purple Heart members will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Lakes Area Senior Activity Center in Brainerd.

American Legion Auxiliary Unit luncheon

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 255 of Brainerd will be serving a luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday. Menu will be tater tot hotdish, salad and dessert. Cost: $5. Call for take outs at 829-2249.

Chapter DV, P.E.O. will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the home of Linda Youngs with Diane Eitrheim as co-hostess. Special guest Nancy Yoshida will give a program on the Iditarod.

NISSWA - Farmers Market will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday in the lower parking lot of the Nisswa Legion. Auxiliary Juniors will meet from 1-4 p.m. May 26.
