Annie is waiting for you to step up and volunteer
There is no time of the year where change is more apparent than the springtime. Flowers blooming, trees greening up, grass growing and increased traffic are just some of the signs. Sometimes the changes that occur in the Kinship Partner kids aren't quite that noticeable, until we take a closer look at them.
MUCH OBLIGED
On behalf of Bay Lake Lions Charities, Inc., I would like to thank the Brainerd Jaycees Ice Fishing Extravaganza for the generous contribution to our Mobility Bus program. MUCH OBLIGED
To say that the Jaycees $150,000 Ice Fishing Contest is a monumental tribute to a group of young men and women who join together to provide community service while learning business leadership skills is a very mild statement. An organization that started with an amazing idea and turned it into the premier ice fishing event in the world is truly phenomenal. This event has received coverage in many types of media worldwide including Field and Stream Magazine, National Geographic, and the Smithsonian. Locally, we cannot ignore the impact this event has had on our community. It encompasses many different groups of volunteers besides the Jaycees and develops a true sense of community. It contributes an unbelievable amount to local charities. The Program at Camp Confidence has been the recipient of over a million dollars that has helped to assure that Campers with developmental disabilities continue to learn and grow in the great outdoors in the Brainerd Lakes Area. Thank you Jaycees for being the catalyst that has made this happen. The Ice Fishing Tournament has made the area a premier winter destination for not only Minnesotans, but people from many different areas. The Campers at Confidence Learning Center just represent a small portion of the people who should be proud of the Brainerd Jaycees.

The current European Wind Energy Conference has adopted the European Commission's estimate that 12 percent of electric energy could be from wind by 2020. That wind figure is limited to 12 percent by the fact that wind is an intermittent power source. The variability problem is especially acute in summer during those sultry days when there isn't a breath of air, and electricity demand is highest.
