John Gault

BACKUS -- John Gault, 70, Backus, died Thursday, May 17, 2001, at his home.

He was born March 1, 1931, in Gobles, Mich., to William and Emma (Miller) Gault. He married Betty Aldrich on July 24, 1954, in Michigan. He was a teacher at Niles West High School in Niles, Ill., for 31 years. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Evanston, Ill., for 35 years.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Elizabeth Lezark, Skokie, Ill., and Carolyn Goodell, Brooklyn Park; five grandchildren; a brother, Harold Irwin, Florida; and a sister, Ada Mae Johnson, Arizona.

A brother, George Irwin, and two sisters, Frances Burns and Lillian Gault, died earlier.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Mildred Bible Chapel in rural Pine River with Pastor Dan Drown officiating. Burial will be in Mildred Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3-6 p.m. today at the Mildred Bible Chapel and one hour before services Monday at the church.

Arrangements are with the Kline Funeral Home in Pine River.
