ST. PAUL (AP) -- Gov. Jesse Ventura, who had four vetoes overridden by the Legislature this week, is comparing lawmakers to members of criminal gangs.
In an interview with WCCO-TV Thursday, the governor said his campaign theme this fall will be ''throw the bums out.''
''They declared war,'' he said. ''They're up for re-election. They should have been kinder and gentler to me, when they're all up for re-election and I'm not.''
The governor said he is not bothered by the overrides but he is upset that the House and Senate did not vote on his proposal for a unicameral Legislature, a one-house legislative body.
Ventura compared the lawmakers to members of criminal gangs.
''On the radio, I used to call them the Democrips and the Rebloodlicans. I'm back calling them that again,'' said the governor, who was a radio talk show host before his election.
