Margaret I. Belton, 98, Brainerd, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2005, at the Woodland Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd. She was born Aug. 14, 1906, in Winnipeg, Canada, to Iain William and Florence (Wood) Mackenzie.
She married Frank Belton in Chicago in 1930. She was a homemaker who enjoyed baking. She became a naturalized citizen in 1960. She was employed by the Journal of the American Medical Association for 15 years during which time she worked her way up to the chief proofreader position.
She is survived by her son, Donald (Judy) Belton, of Lake Shore; her daughter, Elinore (Homer) Bromund, of Cascade, Colo.; her sister, Elinore Mackenzie, of Cascade, Colo.; and two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister and one brother.
Services will be held on Friday, May 20, 2005, at 2 p.m. at the Woodland Good Samaritan Village, 300 Village Chapel, in Brainerd with Pastor Dwight Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Chicago.
