ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (AP) -- An unmanned U.S. spy plane returning from a mission crashed Saturday near a remote village in southwestern Pakistan, not far from a military base being used by U.S. forces, U.S. and Pakistani officials said.
The Predator's wreckage was found near Karim Bakhsh, about 15 miles northeast of Jacobabad, and was being examined by U.S. soldiers, said local police official Mohammed Mustafa.
Ferry catches fire in North Sea
LONDON (AP) -- A disabled ferry with 884 people aboard limped toward Norway on Saturday after its crew extinguished fires that broke out in the engine room, causing it to lose power and drift off the Scottish coast.

New Delhi expels Pakistan ambassador
NEW DELHI, India (AP) -- India expelled Pakistan's ambassador Saturday as firing between the two nuclear-armed neighbors escalated in the disputed Kashmir region, forcing thousands of villagers to flee. Two people were killed as both sides fired at each other across the frontier.
The diplomatic move was announced after Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee met Saturday with top Cabinet ministers, military and intelligence chiefs to decide India's response to a militant attack in Kashmir that killed 34 people on Tuesday.
Palestinians demand Israeli withdrawal before any election is held
JERUSALEM (AP) -- Under pressure and already facing at least one challenger, Yasser Arafat says he'll put his name on a ballot for the first time in six years.
But he added that no Palestinian will go to the polls until Israeli troops leave Palestinian areas they entered after violence broke out 19 months ago.
On Saturday, a Palestinian father remained hospitalized after his 7-year-old son, Amid Abu-Sir, was shot dead by a stray Israeli bullet. The shooting happened in the Askar refugee camp, one of dozens of Palestinian communities where Israeli troops remain, despite an end last week to a six-week West Bank offensive to root out militants.
