BHS' Travica third at conference meet

ST. CLOUD -- Brainerd's Brett Travica defeated Mike Lapos 6-1, 7-5 in the first round of No. 2 singles and then beat Jason Haugen of Willmar 6-0, 4-6, 8-6 to capture third place at the Central Lakes Conference tennis meet Saturday.

After dropping his first No. 1 singles match of the day to the eventual champion, Matt Steiger rattled off two straight win to capture fifth place.

The Warriors' No. 2 doubles team of Josh Holbrook and Paul Kittelson beat the team from Apollo in the first round but dropped the next two to finish fourth.
