Pequot Lakes Superintendent Jim Oraskovich was hospitalized Saturday morning after collapsing at home.
Oraskovich, who plans to retire June 30 after nearly 38 years in education, remains hospitalized at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd.
Pequot Lakes Elementary School Principal Don Lenzen said Sunday that Oraskovich had been having coffee with his wife, Char, about 6:30 a.m. Saturday when his vision became blurry, he grew dizzy and then passed out on his couch. His wife called 911.
Lenzen said he visited Oraskovich on Sunday at the hospital. The Oraskoviches told Lenzen doctors initially thought he may have suffered a stroke or seizure, but they remain uncertain as to what caused him to lose consciousness Saturday.
Lenzen said they will know more Monday. He said Oraskovich was going to prepare a statement for school staff on his medical condition, so they will be able to answer students' questions about his absence.
Lenzen said Oraskovich was upbeat when he visited him Sunday and anxious to get out of the hospital.
