DETROIT LAKES - Jerry Trout, Itasca Moraine Chapter, will host a wildflower and birding hike on the North Country National Scenic Trail near Hackensack at 10 a.m. June 2.
The five-mile hike will go from the Lake Erin Picnic Area to Forest Road 3790. Those interested should meet at the Lake Erin Picnic Area, 2.7 miles south of Northern Lights Casino on Highway 371.

Library announces summer schedule
PINE RIVER - The Kitchigami Regional Library has announced its summer schedule for the months of June, July and August.
The second and fourth Tuesdays of each month, the bookmobile will stop from 9-10:30 a.m. at the garage in Boy River; from 11:10 a.m.-2:40 p.m. on Main Street in Remer; and from 3:40-4:40 p.m. at First and Whipple Streets near the city park in Hackensack.
The first and third Thursdays of each month, the bookmobile will stop from 2:15-2:30 p.m. at the Drop Spot on Main Street in Laporte and from 3:15-4:15 p.m. at Ah-Gwah-Ching in Walker.
The second and fourth Thursdays of each month, stops will be made from 8:15-9:15 a.m. on Highway 371 next to Tasty Pizza in Pequot Lakes; from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Main Street, in front of the Chamber of Commerce in Nisswa; from 11 a.m.-noon at the Breezy Point City Hall; from 12:45-2:45 p.m. near Shores-n-More parking lot in Crosslake; and from 3:15-4:15 p.m. at the Citco gas station parking lot in Emily.
The second and fourth Saturdays of each month, stops will be made from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the VFW parking lot in Garrison and from 11 a.m. to noon on the County Road 6 frontage road at Bay Lake.
Birdbanding event slated at Deep Portage
HACKENSACK - Deep Portage Learning Center will host a Songbirds of Deep Portage Birdbanding demonstration at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 26.
Learn to identify birds by song. Bring walking shoes and binoculars.

Fun game show scheduled Saturday
The Bit and Bridle Saddle Club and the Double M Saddle Club will present a fun game show featuring several events Saturday at the Aitkin County Fairgrounds to raise money for a new barn at the Aitkin fairgrounds.
The event will start at 9 a.m., with gates opening at 7:30 a.m. and registration at 8 a.m.
There will be a $5 grounds fee per rider and a $3 fee per class.
Classes will be divided by grade completed and by age. Ribbons will be awarded to first- through sixth-place winners.
The show committee reserves the right to combine classes.
As required by Minnesota State Law, all horses must have a current Negative Coggins Test.
Concessions will be available.

Garrison Style Show scheduled May 24
GARRISON - The Garrison Lions are making their final plans for the 2007 style show, to be held May 24 at Ruttger's Bay Lake Lodge.
Social hour will begin at 5 p.m. and dinner is at 6 p.m. Tickets are sold in advance and the cost is $25 with reserved seating.
The latest spring fashions will be featured from Herberger's and Ruttger's Country Store.

Wildflower hike scheduled Saturday
WALKER - The Itasca Moraine Chapter of the North Country Trail Association will sponsor a 4.5-mile wildflower walk at 1 p.m. Saturday. The hike will be led by Beth Trout of Hackensack.
Participants are asked to meet at the North Country Nordic Ski Trail parking area on County Road 12. No hiking or wildflower experience is necessary.
The Itasca Moraine Chapter includes members from Hubbard, Beltrami, Cass and Itasca counties and is responsible for the section of North Country Trail between the Chippewa National Forest near Walker and Itasca State Park.

Spring plant sale scheduled Saturday
AITKIN - Lakes and Woods Horticultural Club's annual spring plant sale will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, rain or shine, at the Jaques Art Center.
The Jaques Art Center, located two blocks west of the Highway 169-Highway 210 intersection in Aitkin, will have slices or whole pies for sale inside.
Nisswa Garden Club to meet May 24
NISSWA - The monthly meeting of the Nisswa Garden Club will be May 24 at Lutheran Church of the Cross in Nisswa.
The club is changing meeting times for the summer months. The meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. Registration will begin at 10 a.m. A short business meeting begins at 10:30 a.m., with the speaker's presentation to follow.
The speaker this month is Master Gardener JoAnn Weaver. Her presentation is entitled "The Beekeepers Garden."
Lunch will be served following the presentation. The hosts will be Karen Baloun, Barb Elmquist and Marty Urban.

The Western Division includes the areas of Little Falls, Crosby, Long Prairie, Park Rapids and Pine River.
Roman and Kathleen Schelonka will host the event. Lunch includes Caesar salad, chicken Kiev, ham, augratin potatoes, vegetable and dessert.
