Bob Ehli, noted muskie and pike fisherman from Bemidji, will speak at the monthly meeting of the Fellowship of Christian Anglers Society 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Highway 371 access on North Long Lake.
Ehli will discuss the best methods for early-season pike and muskie fishing. His tactics have been published in Muskies Inc. periodicals and In-Fisherman magazine.
After his presentation there will be time for fishing. Seats in the boats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. If bad weather occurs the meeting will be moved to Bonanza on Highway 371 at 6 p.m. Phone 829-6463 for more information.
Junior Olympic boxing tournament at Wadena
The Wadena Armory will be the site of the Junior Olympic state boxing tournament 7 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
The tournament consists of the best junior boxers, ages 10-16, in the state. They are divided into three age brackets: 10-12, 13-14 and 15-16.
Teams from Minneapolis, St. Paul, Rochester, Caledonia, Leech Lake, Shakopee, St. Cloud, Fergus Falls, Wadena, Detroit Lakes, Lake Lena, Duluth and Willmar scheduled to compete.
Wadena entries include DeWayne Steward, 13-14, 132 pounds; T.J. Steward, 15-16, 147 pounds; and Cody McManigle, 15-16, 119 pounds.
Final boosters meeting Thursday
The final Brainerd Sports Boosters Club meeting of the 2000-01 school year is scheduled noon Thursday on the second floor at Central Lakes College.
Golfer Ben House, the Warrior Athlete of the Week, will be honored.
Flyers' Parker honored by conference
Sammi Parker of Little Falls has been named the Central Lakes Conference performer of the week in softball.
The Flyers' junior catcher hit .300 with four RBI and picked two runners off base in three games last week.
