Trent Snyder of Ironton, winner of the 2003 I-94 Raceway late model season points title, will race in the Yellow Book USA Midwest All-Star Late Model Series this season.
The MARS opener is Sunday at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukana, Wis. The 12-race schedule, which tours four states, will conclude Sept. 18 at I-94 Raceway in Sauk Centre.
There are three other races in Minnesota, two more at I-94 on June 5 and July 24 and one at the Fergus Falls Raceway.
Snyder said the features are 100 laps or more. He will race a 2004 Chevy Monte Carlos (in the new NASCAR style).
He said the series has faster cars and excellent drivers.
"It's going to be tough competition," the 20-year-old said.
His goals are to be named rookie of the year and finish among the top five in at least one race.
Last season, he also nabbed four feature wins at Fergus Falls on his way to finishing second in season points. He was the points leader until the final two weeks of the season.
He will attempt to race in the ASA Super Late Model Series at I-94 Raceway when not racing the MARS Series.
