Governor Jesse Ventura has proposed a budget that would deprive Brainerd schools of two million dollars this year, and next year. This could result in the cutting of programs and staff.
Dr. Munns wrote a newsletter to inform the public of this. It stated, "If this budget were adopted, we could expect the dismantling of our educational systems throughout Central Minnesota".
"I think that the budget would be a bad idea because people in after- school activities would not be able to participate in them anymore," said eighth grade student Ashley Darval.
Although staff loss and programs would go only as a last resort, Ventura's budget cut would put a permanent dent in Brainerd schools.
