The Salvation Army this week celebrates 90 years of quiet, dedicated service in Brainerd. To celebrate the event, the Salvation Army will host an open house Tuesday at the Salvation Army Citadel at Northeast Brainerd.

Pitcher Alan Wallace's Grand Slam homerun highlighted a seven-run second inning as the Brainerd High School Warrior made it six straight triumphs and nine in 13 starts this spring, 10-4 over Staples here Friday.

Fisherman's luck -- a wet back and a hungry stomach -- appeared to be the general verdict of many anglers who came to Paul Bunyanland for the two-day walleye opener. The two days were the windiest, wettest and generally most unpredictable of the resorters' careers.

"Come one, come all" will be the cry of the High School seniors as they board their cars and start for the picnic grounds Wednesday at Shing-Wako on Lake Edwards. In the morning the seniors will come in usual dress-up-day costumes.

Two men beat each other up and got arrested because each thought the other was a thug trying to hold him up. Why not license the hold-up men, and give them badges, so they'll be recognizable.

Baker J. Hawkins yesterday let a contract for the construction of another fine residence property joining the one they are now contracting north of the park.
