Central Lakes College, Brainerd and Staples, and the Wadena County Mental Health Advisory Council are co-sponsoring a mental health awareness conference from 2 to 8 p.m. May 28 at Donovan's Hall, The Pizza Ranch, in Wadena.
The event includes keynote speakers Charles Jensen and Mark Anderson from the Barbara Schneider Foundation.
This seminar is designed to make the general public more aware of persons with a mental health diagnosis, what is a mental health crisis, information on clinical depression.
After 89 arrests and the loss of 12 years of his life to mental health crises, Jensen received mental health treatment he needed. He speaks about the importance of not giving up on anyone with a mental illness.
Anderson has been the executive director of the Barbara Schneider Foundation since 2003.
Other speakers will be Mark Bublitz and Mary Marana from the Crisis Line and Mobile Crisis Outreach; Jode Freyholtz, Consumer Service provider; Corrina Brown, Lakewood Health System; and Jeff King and Jeanette Hall, consumers.
