CROSSLAKE - Dean Kenneth Brodin, age 66, of Crosslake, formerly of New Hope, passed away peacefully May 12, 2008, after courageously battling cancer for five years. Memorial services will be Friday, May 16, at 11 a.m. at Crosslake Lutheran Church with visitation one hour prior to the service. Memorials preferred to Crosslake Lutheran Church, Camp Knutson or Crosslake Historical Society.
Dean was born in Minneapolis and attended Patrick Henry High School and the University of Minnesota. He was a medical technician in the National Guard. He received his CPA in 1972 and was employed at Kofski and Schnobrich (Touche Ross) as a staff auditor. He spent 15 years at Medtronic and served as a director of finance and administration before being recruited to the Faegre and Benson law firm where he held the position of firm administrator for 15 years. Dean was an active member of Holy Nativity Church for many years and was actively involved in their building project. Dean and Kathy built a log home on Daggett Lake where they retired in 1998. Dean was a member of the Crosslake Planning and Zoning Commission for three years and a member of the Crosslake Historical Society. His many friends shared his love of golf, deer hunting, boating and dinners with family and friends. Dean will be remembered lovingly for his great devotion to his family, his dry sense of humor and his ability to make friends wherever he went.
He is survived by Kathleen, his wife of 43 years; daughters, Michelle Brodin and Melissa (Tyler) Steffes; mother, Ruth Brodin; sister, Ruthann (Robert) Mattson; and a large and loving extended family. Services entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel of Crosslake.
