Saturday night's rainfall didn't discourage a good turnout for Brainerd High School's prom for senior citizens. Between 400 and 500 people showed up to hear an 18-piece orchestra from Alexandria.

Two hundred and thirty riders participated in the Brainerd area bike-a-thon Saturday. Sponsor pledges could reach as high as $3,000 to $3,500 for the one day event.

Not alone for long -- Brainerd's animated Paul Bunyan statue soon will be joined by a 15 foot Babe the Blue Ox. The ox statue will leave Kansas City, Mo. by railroad Tuesday and will arrive here about May 25. First display is planned for May 30.

April business activity in Brainerd, as measured by the volume of bank debits, was six percent above April last year.

Clarence Swanson night clerk at the Hewitt Cafe, claims the honor of being the first to try lake bathing this season. Mr. Swanson went swimming at Lum Park on Thursday.

Mr. Gunderson, of Nokay Lake, walked to Brainerd Monday and walked home again, happier than when he went as he sold his farm and got the cash.
