Nominations are being sought for Cass County Outstanding Senior Citizens for 2003.
Both a man and a woman, who are 70 by Aug. 1, will be selected for outstanding community involvement that has served as an example to others in the county. They will be honored at the Council on Aging delegate luncheon in August.
Those selected will receive plaques from the Cass County Council on Aging and certificates of commendation from Gov. Tim Pawlenty. Their names will be submitted to the Minnesota Board on Aging for the state selection process for outstanding senior citizens. The state winners will be announced at the Minnesota State Fair on the second Thursday of that event.
Deadline for acceptance of nomination forms is June 9.
Persons wishing to nominate someone for these awards can obtain an official nomination form by writing to the Coordinator of Aging, P.O. Box 3000, Walker, MN 56484 or by calling (218)547-7414 or toll free at (888)547-3301. Entry forms may also be picked up at the Cass County Courthouse reception desk or the Coordinator of Aging office.
Nominees must be residents of Cass County. Judging will be based primarily on the number and variety of contributions nominees have made to their communities after the age of 65. Previous nominees are eligible to participate again in this ceremony. Previous county winners, not selected as the state winner, are also eligible to participate again.
