IRONTON -- The Mille Lacs Lake Lions Club presented its 22nd fashion show May 5 in the Pine Room at Gary's Bar and Grill in Ironton.
Georjann Deutsch, club president, welcomed members and guests, and Karen Raddatz, vice president, gave the invocation. Mary Ellen Pogatchnik, event chairperson, served as mistress of ceremonies assisted by Betty O'Neil, co-chairperson. Lions, their spouses, friends and families served as models with clothes exclusively by Herberger's in Brainerd/Baxter.
Valerie Miller and Carol Carlson were coordinators. The fashions shown included casual, semi-casual and dressy, all suited to the lakes lifestyle.
The three $100 Herberger's shopping spree winners were Bev Tkaczik, Lois Spohn and Ann Beckman. Carole Dockendorf won the hand sewn quilt made by workshop ladies.
In 1981, the club presented its first scholarship for $400. Now, the club will give three $1,000 scholarships. Proceeds from the fashion show are used for the three nontraditional scholarships.
