Kenneth 'Butsy' H. Leonard, Brainerd, passed away May 10, 2005, at his daughter's home in Brainerd. He was born in Brainerd, Minn., to Franklin and Ruth (Wachols) Leonard on July 3, 1919. He married Ann Dehling on June 7, 1939, in Mason City, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked as a meat cutter for many years in the Brainerd area.
He is survived by his sons, Dennis Leonard, of Brainerd, and Steve (Cynthia) Leonard, of Atlanta; his daughters, Patricia Keller, of Minneapolis, Diane (Donald) Smart, of Brainerd, and Kimberly Weiss, of Brainerd; his brother, Robert Leonard, of Duluth; his sisters, Violet St. John, of San Diego, Marvel Paxson, of California, and Elaine Bergeson, of Albuquerque, N.M.; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ann; one daughter, Sheryl Stearns; one brother, Frank Leonard; and one grandson, Kenny Stearns.
Services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 13, at Zion Lutheran Church in Brainerd with Pastor Mark Kleckner officiating. Interment will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Camp Ripley. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
