TOPEKA, Kan. -- Billy Dykes Miller, 88, of Topeka, Kan., died Tuesday, May 11, 2004, at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka after a short bout with pneumonia and congestive heart failure.
Born April 3, 1916, in Pittsburg, Kan., to Orilla Matilda (Light) and Pearl Franklin Miller, he was a retired clerk for the Santa Fe Railroad. He was a former ordained pastor and attended colleges in Kansas and Texas. His hobby was rooting for the University of Kansas basketball team. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Topeka.
Survivors include his wife, Jean (Palmer); a daughter, Susan Fickler, Topeka, Kan.; two sons, Stuart, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Roy, Brainerd; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home in Topeka with the Rev. Connie Skinner officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
