NISSWA -- The 3 Danish Royal Tenors will continue their mission of making opera accessible to the masses with a performance at 7 p.m. June 23 at Lutheran Church of the Cross in Nisswa.

The 3 Tenors, including John Venning, Mark McLeod and Magnus Gislason and accompanied by pianist Knud Rasmussen, are spending their summer away from the Royal Danish Opera with a tour of the United States. A musical mix of opera, operetta, Broadway musicals and Scandinavian Evergreens is planned for the concert.
Venning was trained at the Music Conservatoire in Torino, Italy, and The Royal College of Music in London before joining the English National Opera. He performed as soloist in Italy and Germany before moving to Denmark and joining the Danish Royal Opera. He is the leader of several vocal groups that have performed throughout the world.
McLeod received his training with John Wakefield in Trinity College in London and with Kirsten Buhl-Mller in Copenhagen, and has appeared in a large number of musicals in London. He moved to Denmark in 1995 and joined the Danish Royal Opera in 1997. He has since performed a wide range of roles at the Royal Theater in Copenhagen.
Gislason was trained at the Music Conservatoire in Rejkjavik, Iceland, and received further training in Milan under Professor G. Ostini and master classes with Julia Hamari and Placido Domingo. He joined the Danish Royal Opera in 1991. In the summer of 2000, he sang Don Jos in Bizet's "Carmen" in Hamburg in connection with the "Carmen 2000" project under the leadership of the conductor Cord Garben.
Rasmussen was trained at the Fynen Music Conservatoire in Odense, Denmark, with further studies at the Danish Royal Music Conservatoire in Copenhagen. He has diplomas in piano, organ and guitar, and has accompanied singers in many genres of music. He is the founder of the Joyful Noise Gospel Choir, which has performed throughout Denmark and the United States.
