PILLAGER -- Erma Jean (Schindele) Hynes, 83, Pillager, died Friday, May 9, 2003, in Coon Rapids.
She was born Nov. 7, 1919, in North Dakota to Christian and Pearl (Howser) Schindele. After her mother's death, she lived with her aunt and uncle, Joe and Mae Mountjoy of Little Falls. She attended Little Falls High School. She graduated in 1937. She graduated from the Minneapolis School of Beauty in 1938. She married Melvin Hynes on Sept. 1, 1940, in Little Falls. She worked out of her home part-time as a beautician. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Pillager where she served as secretary, treasurer, Sunday school teacher and was a choir and committee member.
Survivors include three sons, Larry Hynes, Pillager, Thomas Hynes, Cupertino, Calif., and John Hynes, Little Falls; a daughter, Patty McCarthy, Coon Rapids; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Her husband died earlier.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Assembly of God Church in Pillager with the Rev. Robert Osell officiating. Memorials are preferred to the First Baptist Church of Pillager, PO Box 182, Pillager.
Arrangements are with Gearhart Funeral Home in Coon Rapids.
