Graduation speakers have been announced for ceremonies this week recognizing 789 graduates of Central Lakes College, Brainerd and Staples.
Joe Niggeler, plant manager for 3M Fabrication Services at Staples, will speak at the 7 p.m. graduation today in the gymnasium at Staples-Motley High School. He is an active supporter of Central Lakes College and the CLC Foundation.
Joycelyn Shingobe, commissioner of education for the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe, will be the guest speaker for Thursday's 7 p.m. ceremony in the gymnasium at Brainerd High School. Shingobe received her associate of arts degree from CLC.
The Staples ceremony will include Ken Niemi, vice chancellor of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system, who will present greetings from Chancellor James McCormick; remarks from Travis Pintar, student senate president; and presentation of graduates by Ray Gildow, vice president for operations at the Staples campus, and Jim Louma, vice chair of the MnSCU board of trustees.
The Brainerd ceremony will include remarks by Jake Hood, student senate president, and presentations of graduates by Tina Royer, associate vice president of academic affairs.
At both ceremonies, Joe Birmingham, CLC president, will provide a welcome, introductions and remarks. Ted Spring, vice president of academic affairs, will confer degrees at both ceremonies.
The Brainerd graduation will include a reception in the BHS cafeteria following ceremonies in the gym.
The Staples reception will be in the CLC cafeteria commons on the Staples campus.
