Carl Samuelson named to head nature center

The Paul Bunyan Nature Learning Center this week announced the hiring of Carl Samuelson, Pequot Lakes, as its executive director.

Samuelson has 20 years of business operations experience and has spent the past eight years as chairman and chief executive officer of Samuelson Consulting Group, a Pequot Lakes-based management consulting firm. Samuelson has 14 years experience helping nonprofit organizations develop business plans; locate funding through grants, endowments and donations; conduct fund-raisers and membership drives; and foster community development. Samuelson also has six years experience in environmental education program development and environmental project management.

A graduate of the University of Minnesota with a bachelor of arts degree in history, Samuelson also has a master's degree in computer and information sciences from the U of M. He is a certified project management professional and a certified parliamentarian.

Samuelson succeeds Sarah Tietz as executive director.

The Paul Bunyan Nature Learning Center is on Crow County Road 49, three miles north of the Highway 210-371 intersection in Baxter. The center is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. The center's trails and picnic area are open from dawn to dusk.
