Land of Lakes Girl Scouts Council recently elected its board of directors at the 2004 annual meeting in Crosby.
Accepting the position of secretary was Laurie Hoenig, Crosslake. She recently completed her studies for massage therapy. Before going back to school last June, she worked in the banking business for 12 years. She has been a Girl Scout for 26 years -- six years as a girl and 20 as an adult.
In 1983, Hoenig returned to Girl Scouting when her daughter needed a leader. She has held a variety of volunteer positions since that time. In 1989, Hoenig received the Girl Scouts' Outstanding Volunteer award.
Hoenig also has been the chairperson for two city of Crosslake committees over the past eight years. She and her husband, John, have three grown children, and the entire family was involved in Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts as they grew up.
