Approximately 200 Legionaires and guests attended the "Commanders Appreciation Night" and dinner held recently at the Brainerd American Legion. A life membership card was presented to John Pederson and Emery Sedlock now living in Apache Junction, Arizona.

The Brainerd School Board awarded an $88,400 dirt fill contract for the lower site. The contract, awarded to low bidder Rajala Construction of Cohasset, was divided into two parts.

Brainerd firemen were called to the country club about 2:45 p.m. when a shorted electrical wire caused about $500 damage to the building, ruined lawnmowers and damaged two cars.
