CROSBY -- Senior Health and Fitness Days and Senior Games will run June 1-3 at the Hallett Community Center in Crosby.
The event will feature free use of all of the facilities and programs all three days, with free lunch and speakers June 1. Events will include 5K and 10K fun runs, canoe and bike races, track and field events, bowling, sand volleyball, swimming, horseshoes, golf and a pontoon ride with dinner.
Participants are asked to sign up for all events in advance at (218) 546-2616.
Pine River event to promote children's safety
PINE RIVER -- Kids Day America 2004 will run 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at 2594 Tilden Trail South in Pine River.
Information and activities will be available for both adults and children. There will be free fingerprinting, handouts on drug awareness and crime, pediatric dental ID exams, and bicycle/car safety tips.
The Pequot Lakes Clown Troupe will offer face-painting and children will get a chance to meet firefighters, explore a fire truck and learn fire prevention tips.
Information also will be available on ways to increase children's concentration and attention levels without drugs, what common medications may cause serious harm and side effects, and nutritional strategies for children. Free scoliosis screenings will be given.
The event is sponsored by Health First Chiropractic and will be held rain or shine.
Entrants sought for Nisswa's Freedom Day Parade
NISSWA -- Parade participants are being sought for the annual Nisswa Freedom Day Parade, scheduled 7 p.m. July 3 on Main Street in Nisswa.
Entrants can be organizations, families or individual groups. Entry forms are available at the Nisswa Chamber of Commerce.
Recognition will awarded for Best Car, Best Float, Most Patriotic and Best Overall.
The chamber is accepting donations to help bring high school youth bands to the community parade and to help defray cost of parade materials.
