Accidents
The State Patrol responded to a one-vehicle rollover at 11:35 a.m. Monday on Highway 64, 18 miles north of Leader. Cassandra Wilson, 22, St. Cloud, suffered minor injures and was treated at the Greater Staples Hospital and later released.

Charter Commission to meet May 19
The Brainerd Charter Commission will meet 4 p.m. May 19 at city hall to review the terms for the Library Board and the Park Board, as well as conduct any other business that may come before the commission.

Ex-Potlatch employees find education brightens future
When the Potlatch paper mill closed in Brainerd two years ago, more than 600 employees were out of work. In the summer of 2002, the first of nearly 100 displaced Potlatch employees enrolled at Central Lakes College in Brainerd and Staples. PINE RIVER -- Edna Siltman, age 96, of Pine River, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2004, at Bethany Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd. Edna was born Dec. 14, 1907, in Pine River to Adam and Anna Jane Fox. After high school she completed normal training and taught school in St. Mathias. She worked at Hill Hardware and Gardiner Hardware in Pine River and at the age of 62, she joined the staff at Whispering Pines Good Samaritan Center in Pine River where she worked for 20 years. Edna was very active in her sons' schooling and sports. She loved her horses and took pride in her home, always having a ready lunch for all who visited. She was involved in many activities in the Ponto Lake area.

Wally was born Nov. 7, 1923, in Owatonna, Minn. He graduated from Claremont High School in 1941 and served 22 years in the Navy.
