Richard M. "Dick" Peterson, 76, Brainerd, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2009, at Woodland Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd.
He was born on Nov. 17, 1932, in Brainerd to Herman and Sandra (Ylinen) Peterson.
Dick grew up on a farm in the South Long Lake area. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He spent most of his life working as an engineer for Macalester College, the railroad, Brainerd Regional Human Services and also did construction work.
He is survived by his siblings Kathryn (Kenneth) Caughey, Brainerd, Doris (Clifford) Holtz, Brainerd, Lorraine (Robert) Howell, Omaha, Neb., Gary (Cathryn), Brainerd, Glen (Darlene), Brainerd and David (Bonnie), Brainerd; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Roberta.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2009, in the 300 chapel at Woodland Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd with Pastor Gary Peterson officiating. Interment will be in Gull River Cemetery in Gull River Township.
In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to Woodland Good Samaritan Village Star Ministries.
Arrangements are with the Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Brainerd.
