STAPLES -- Because of the inclement weather, the 7 p.m. Central Lakes College commencement ceremony for Staples campus graduates today will be held in Centennial Auditorium at Staples-Motley High School.

A reception will follow at the Staples campus of CLC. Approximately 200 students will receive degrees, diplomas and certificates. State Sen. Tony Kinkel will give the commencement address.

Friday to be Poppy Day

Brainerd Mayor James Wallin has proclaimed Friday as American Legion/American Legion Auxiliary Poppy Day in Brainerd.

Volunteers with the Legion and Auxiliary will distribute poppies from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at area businesses in Brainerd and Baxter.

A donation is requested for each poppy.

All funds are applied to the medical and health needs of area veterans.
