Farnam to represent Wolves overseas

Minnesota Timberwolves athletic trainer Gregg Farnam, a Pine River High School graduate, will join NBA players, coaches and staff in the Basketball without Borders 2008 program.

Farnam will serve as head athletic trainer for this year's Basketball without Borders Asia in New Delhi, marking the NBA's first-ever event in India. The camp will take place at the American Embassy School of New Delhi July 3-6. BWB Asia features four current NBA players: Samuel Dalembert, Pat Garrity, Kyle Korver and Ronny Turiaf.

Warrior girls' hoops camps scheduled

Brainerd Warrior girls' basketball coach Carl Hendrickson and staff have scheduled several camps in June and July.

Girls going into grades 2, 3, 4 will have a camp at Forestview Middle School in Baxter from 8 to 11 a.m. June 9-13. Cost is $42 (no T-shirt).

Girls entering grades 5, 6, 7 will have a camp at Forestview from noon to 4 p.m. June 9-13. Cost is $60 (T-shirt included).

Girls going into grades 8, 9, 10 will have a camp at Brainerd High School from 8 a.m., to noon July 14-18. Cost is $60 (T-shirt included).

Edin earns spot on All-MIAC team

Concordia College freshman Matt Edin of Staples has been named to the All-MIAC men's tennis team.

He was the team's No. 2 singles player and went 4-5 in conference play. He was 9-9 overall in singles matches this year.

Olejnicak, Smith on Concordia relay team

Senior Dusten Olejnicak of Brainerd and senior Josh Smith of Staples were members of the Concordia College men's 4x400 relay team that competed in the Ron Masanz Invite at Minnesota State University Moorhead May 3.

The relay ran a time of 3:20.38, the third-fastest in the conference this season and fifth fastest in school history.

JV baseball unbeaten

The Brainerd junior varsity baseball team improved to 7-0 Thursday by defeating Upsala 15-5 in seven innings.

Trevor Howard pitched five innings, giving up five earned runs on six hits, walked eight and had six strikeouts.

Jake Caughey pitched two shutout innings, giving up two hits and no walks with one strikeout.

Michael Brekken led Warrior hitters, going 3-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored.

Zach Voels was 2-4 with three RBIs and two runs. Brandon Shaw went 2-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Trevor Howard added two hits and three runs while Josh Tokarczyk added two hits.

Brainerd will play Upsala again at 5 p.m. Monday at Mills Field.
