CROSSLAKE - Youth and adult volunteers will join together to spruce up the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Campground on May 17. The project is part of the ninth annual Join Hands Day national day of service.
Members from the Central Lakes Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will join with youth and adult volunteers from area churches for this service activity.
More than 100 youth and adults are coming from area churches in Crosslake. The Minnesota DNR is donating tree seedlings. Area garden nurseries are providing the flowers, black dirt, larger trees and their expertise.
The youth and adults will gather at 9 a.m. May 17 at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Campground, 35507 Crow Wing County Road 66, Crosslake.
The service project is expected to last about six hours. Crosslake area merchants are donating soft drinks and pizza to feed the volunteers.
Thrivent Financial Central Lakes Chapter is donating $1,000 to help fund Join Hands Day.
DAV to meet
The DAV and Auxiliary of Crow Wing Chapter 22 will meet from 7-8 p.m. Thursday at the Brainerd VFW Post No. 1647.
