Olson earns all-conference honors

DECORAH, Iowa -- Wadena's Johanna Olson, a junior on the Luther College women's track and field team, earned all-conference honors at the Iowa Conference track and field championships May 5-6.

The top three performers in each event are awarded all-conference honors. Olson placed second in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:25.13. She also competed in the 3,000 run and placed sixth, posting a time of 10:59.97.

As a team, the Norse finished third with a total of 147 points.

Water safety instructor class scheduled

The Brainerd Family YMCA will offer a Red Cross Water Safety Instructor class beginning Saturday, June 3.

Upon completion of the course, Water Safety Instructors will be qualified to teach all levels of the Infant and Preschool Aquatics Program, the Learn to Swim Program, and the Community Water Safety Course.

Cost including classroom materials is $179.50. There is a class limit of 10 students. Registration deadline is Saturday, May 27.
