Aitkin remains unbeaten

DEER RIVER - The Aitkin Gobblers cracked 30 hits and won both games in the Deer River tournament Friday.

Sara Hoge pitched a five-inning complete first game. She struck out five, walked four and hit a batter.

Sara Hoge was 3-4 with a double and two RBIs, Kelsey Klucas was 4-5, Emily Mehr 3-3 with a double and RBI, Ellen Raushel 2-2 with a double and RBI, Allie Carlson was 1-3 with a double and two RBIs, Lena Montano drove in four runs, Jel Montano was 2-2 with an RBI and Kristy Hoge and Elizabeth Mattson drove in runs.

Emily Mehr went all seven innings in the second game, struck out seven and walked one.

Lauren Landrus and Allie Carlson were 3-4, Raushel 2-4, Sara Hoge drove in a run, Miranda Paulson was 2-3 with a double and three RBIs and Kristy Hoge tripled.

Little Falls 23, Royalton 3

ROYALTON - The Little Falls Flyers batted around in the second and fifth innings on their way to a 23-3 victory over Royalton in non-conference action Friday.

Marissa Gessell pitched five innings, giving up three earned runs while striking out two.

Offensively, the Flyers had four players with two hits. Paige Beseman, Nhi Dinh, Anna Peterson and Kaitlyn Gerads each had two of the Flyers' 14 hits.

Wolverines sweep Cards

WADENA - Steph Perkins and Steph Hahn each notched victories and the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines kept their Mid-State Conference record perfect at 10-0 with a sweep of Staples-Motley on Friday.

Lexie Hoemberg went 2-3 in a 10-7 victory in Game One.

In Game Two, the Cardinals outhit the Wolverines and came out on the short end of a 12-2 score. Kendra Grothmann went 3-4 and Samantha Holweger went 2-3 for W-DC.

VERNDALE - Alicia Johnson went 2-for-3 with a a two-run home run to lead Verndale past Parkers Prairie 4-1 Friday in Park Region Conference action Friday.

Nicole Bart tossed a complete game with seven strikeouts and one earned run on eight hits.
